That's Birdie All Day Long

4ore play

Tom Kim

Not a pivot play. Not a sneaky play. Yet, Tom Kim becomes a part of the core becuase of his skill and his price. Things I’m looking for this week are scorers, players that can light up and torch easy courses, and guys that are teeing off in the morning on Thursday. Kim checks all those boxes. The most important thing is that he ranks 15th on par-5’s, 4th on par-4’s, 21st in birdie average, 4th on approach, and 3rd in ball striking. Needless to say the field is going to have a hard time dealing with a fired up Tom Kim

Justin Suh

“It’s Mito Week!!!” Kidding. We have to kill the lineups somehow and there just seems to be no better way than having Justin Suh enter stage right. Now since the PLAYERS, Suh has made 4/4 cuts. Yet, he’s tried to miss them. 73rd at the RBC and a 59th last weekend at the Wells Fargo. Yet, there are key stats for Suh that lean me towards making him a big part of my weekend lineups.

He ranks 16th in biride average, 2nd in rounds in the 60’s, and 31st in scoring. Suh’s biggest weakness is when the round simply goes wrong, but let’s be realistic, if the round goes round for any golfer this weekend there is a great chance they won’t be seeing a cut line. The course is just too easy.

Dylan Wu or Michael Kim

Michael Kim is in this list because he seems to be showing up everywhere in my models, and we are at an easy course. Give me next week and Michael Kim accomplishing the same thing on my model and I won’t pay any attention to it. Yet, the course is for the recreational golfer. Any pro has a chance to light it up this weekend.

Dylan Wu has the same opportunity, and he is coming in at single digit ownership. Yet, what I find most impressive is that he’s made 6/6 cuts since the PLAYERS, and on the season has an averaging finishing position of 35th. Plus, recent form looks great as he had a 21st at the Wells Fargo and a 15th at the Mexico Championship.

Deki

It has been an injury plagues year for Deki. In fact, it has been a massive disapointment. Deki has been faced with WD’s, poor performances, and plenty of other factors that you would think would make him a sleeper coming in this week. Yet, we had the Spieth WD which caused enough of a stir to force ownership his way. Deki is coming in at a healthy 22%, and I am surprised considering how many players are very big on the “what have you done for me lately” narrative. Still, he ranks 21st in the field in birdie avg, 4th on par-5’s, 10th on par-3’s, 22nd on approach, and 15th in the field in scoring. These are key attributes for success in regards to what I am waiting for success.

Can't Do It

Brandon Wu- Coming in at nearly 15% ownership in the 7K range when there are guys in that same spot for low single digit ownership. That's a dangerous number to flirt with.

Fading Scottie Scheffler- I know this is contrary to the entire segment, but I am unable to fade Scheffler regardless of his 40+% projected ownership. He's damn near the best player in the world right now and I can't look the other way.

Grab a brew...don't cost nothin...Core4 coming soon.
